would these headers work?
would these headers work on my 87?...i'm keeping my computer and tbi, so i need the o2 sensor..so i cant run the "older style" headers...?? i think i have to run shorty's since my truck is lowered

the link doesn't work, but you can use the 88-up headers on the 87.

you can run o2's with the old style headers, just have the o2 bungs inserted in the exhaust pipe just after the collector... Also, your truck isn't too low for Long Tubes, so that's what I would run...

First off on the heated sensors, any parts store should carry them. They come in 3 varieties: 2 wire (good), 3 wire (better) and 4 wire (best).
The 2 wire would be the easiest to hook up. One wire is the signal and the other is the + for the heating element. That one would simply go to a power source that's hot with the key in the run position. The 3 wire sensor adds a ground for the heating element, and the 4 wire adds a signal ground. The 2 wire ones just ground both through the sensor body. As for the '86, we all missed the carnige on the pass. side. That little rust hole on the drivers side was nothing. Here's where it stood as of day before yesterday. 86 Progress Pics I've since got the spring hanger bolted back on and moved to the driver side. I had the o2's from my wagon just tapped into the pipe about 3 inches after my collector flange. Worked great.

geeze....
i saw dan at the car show.....he said there was a bunch of hidden crap behind the gas tank, that you couldnt see til ya removed the tank looks like your doing a first rate job on the welding ya got to keep those progress pics up to date.

I should have a few more ready for ya this evening. The passenger side is completely back together except for the gas tank, and I just finished welding the repair panel into the driver side. I'm in taking a break now, and then I'm going to go back out and grind the welds smooth and slap on a coat of POR 15.
I hope to have the gas tank back in and the bed ready to go on this evening. Tony |
