another Texas newbie
I would like to stick my head up and introduce. Been reading your excellent board for several weeks now, thanks for all the ideas and sources.
The day my D was final, I started taking apart my '70 CST. Bought it in '78 with 34K miles from the old farmer's widow, drove it in Houston for 15 years without picking up a dent, parked it for the last ten years. Now I have a worthy recipient of my time, money, and affection. Now that the 350 is going back together (from it's first time out of the truck) - why do I have two water temp senders? - one in each head. Anyone ever seen this before, or did the machine shop pull a swap on me? Here it is 3 months ago before I started. Hope this picture attempt works! http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/ycahou...be.jpg&.src=ph

Welcome from Central Texas.
Don't see the need (nor have I ever seen) for two temp sending units. One in one head is sufficient. Sounds like you have a great truck to start with.

Welcome from Farmers Branch. I have no idea why you would have two sending units unless someone replaced a head maybe. Or like you said, machine shop traded with ya. Welcome again.
