Went fishin in the local yard....

Looking for a rear for my K10.....anyway came across a Blazer in there that has a good top and rear hatch....I looked the hatch over pretty good and no rust and still has the support braces there.....what would this whole thing be worth....I am tryin to figure out if it is worth going back and getting for resale.....also how hard is it to get one of those tops off....Thanks....Paul K

easy to get off and if in good shape, well worth pulling. Also grab the supports and hinges if still there also.

The hatch is probably worth in the $50-100 range. Market drives the price though. I've seen them go for around $200 when there were several people searching. Grab as much of the hardware for the hatch as possible. Check to see if it has the chrome carpet hold-down strips too. Those can be very hard to find.

The only thing I see that anyone failed to mention is, that top is freak'n
heavy as hell, it will require a minimum of 2 decent guys to remove it.

It is most likely a doublewall top. They have issues with sagging in the middle and splitting on the seams. They aren't worth as much as a single wall top and they can be hard to sell.

Hey Paul,
I just hauled back a 72 cheyenne 4x4 from NY. Last 2 ft. of frame was cut off? Body is toast, engine is gone, but it still has rears, auto trans & trans case & lots of good small parts. I'm looking for a nice blazer hatch and some small parts for my blazer. I can email you pics of the truck. I would trade the whole thing for the blazer parts? In NJ 08015. Or I would be interested in buying the parts from you. ( I bought the door & fenders from you a few weeks ago)
Thanks,
Harry

The only tools I needed to take the top off my 70 was a 3/8 ratchet set. If I remember correctly, there were 16 bolts total holding my top on.

I don't think a double wall top would be worth the effort, but a single wall would. I think that hatch would be worth at least $200 in really nice shape, and $100 - $200 if it has a couple minor cracks. If it's a single wall top you could probably get $200+ very easily, probably twice that if it's really nice.

And a big screw driver too (two inboard screws on the windshield frame).
