Gas prices hit the roof... I'm furious!!!

Gas prices in The Netherlands must be the highest in the world.
Today the oil company increased the price again. (For the 72nd time this year!!)
A gallon of regular gas now costs $ 6.36

So in two weeks, when I'm on holiday in the US and you see a man
with a big smile filling up his rental 4x4 it's a good change that's me.

Wow. It would cost me almost $20 a day in gas to drive to work. Maybe that $2.18 I paid this morning ain't half bad. . .

Me and my girlfriend are going to California, Nevada, Arizona, Missourri and New York.

We start in San Francisco, and than to Reno (HAN), Yosemite, Death Valley,
Las Vegas, Kingman, Grand Canyon, Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles,
Amazonia (Hello Kevin) and last, but not least New York.

Can't wait to go to Reno and go to the Hot August Nights.
I hope we can meet some board members during HAN.
And we are staying at Kevin's place. He's been a great help with
obtaining parts for our Longhorn.

Yeah, and take a look at this profits the oil companies are ringing up. I know oil's the major cost factor in gasoline but the oil companies are just plain raping us now or their profits would have remained steady rather than skyrocketing as they have.

In the Netherlands almost 75% of the gasoline price goes to the goverment.
So you'll never hear them complain about the increase of the price...

the price of premium in our area is approx. $1.05 @ litre, which converts to $3.99 Canadian @ US gallon. This means that we pay 3.27 USD a gallon, so compared to the Netherlands we're not doing to bad. It gives a whole new meaning to "Sunday driving".

I filled my work van up today 106.5 litres was $ 103.00 . Good thing I only burn 3 tanks a week. The real amazing thing is it's a 100 litre tank. Do you think I was pushing my luck?

There is more to do in San Diego than look at car/truck stuff. You gotta spend a morning/afternoon on a beach and have dinner somewhere you can watch the sunset or the Pacific Ocean. Make sure you see the Gaslight area and Old Town San Diego, Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, http://www.hometownfreepress.com/SanDiego/Calendar/ , it is a city you need a car to get around.
But if you want to see automotive stuff I am sure the So*Cal members can direct you to the right place. San Diego is a great city.

I will be at HAN and the BBQ on Saturday night.

Here are 2 neat car/truck places in San Diego. Visit the Corvette Diner in Hillcrest. It
is modeled after an authentic '50's diner and even has a real,live vintage Vette in the
middle of the restaurant. Food is excellent, and the bar is great!! Also in Jamul,(in San
Diego's east county), visit Simpson's Nursery. This is a working nursery, but all of the
nursery's trucks are restored classics. They also have a museum of classic vehicles on
the grounds.

I ***** as much as anyone about the gas price (maybe more) but tonight I was at the local Kwik trip and the mother daughter in front of me bought gas and 4 small bottles of of water $20 for gas and $7.60 for the water---maybe my math is a little off but the water figures out to over $15.00 per gallon--HHHHMMMMM

Edmond, you may want to think twice about visiting Death Valley. Earlier this week
the temperature was 126 farenheit. The best time to visit there is in the winter.

Our gas is not paying for social services like other countries are.You have to compare apples to apples.Take away the 75% tax,and the prices equal out.We Americans pay for health care and social programs threw work,not gas.

I wish that was true.... But it's not. I have to pay for health care and social programs too.
And that's all coming out of my paycheck.
About 40% of my pay goes to the Tax.
On top of the fuelprice we have to pay RoadTax. The heavier the car, the more tax.
Within a few years they want us to pay for every driven mile. The more you drive, the more you pay.
