Anybody installed OER repro steering wheel? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am thinking about getting the reproduction oer rosewood steering wheel and mounting kit for 69 and later Chevy cars. Does anybody have any comments on the installation and/or quality of this steering wheel and kit? Will the kit fit on the tilt column of my '72? I appreciate any feedback.

I have a steering wheel from a 1992 Lumina on my 1969 it looks real good and you can get them cheap at junk yards.

I heard the repos are lighter than OEM, but considering the original one I bought feels like it weighs 1000lbs this might not be a problem. I was also informed that if you buy a hub/install kit for a 67 Camaro it will match the diameter of our truck column properly. The later install kits use a hub that is a little bigger...still works, but doesn't match perfectly. Any other board members want to confirm this info? I think these wheels look great in trucks.

The rosewood wheel you`re talking about is the 3-spoke like in Chevy cars in the late 60s?I have an original one in a truck and it`s like it was made for it(w/tilt).The repros should be the same if they`re worth a penny.

Thanks for the info! I will look into getting the installation kit and hub for a '67. Did they make tilt for the Camaro in '67? I assume the '69 wheel will mount to the '67 hub. Is that correct?

Yeah, the wheel should fit on the hub if I was informed correctly. I bought a used 3 spoke wheel already mounted to the hub, and was informed by the seller it was on a 67 camaro hub but haven't had a chance to install it yet. I just checked a camaro parts place and they list a different hub kit for 67-68 than 69+. So if I was told true info, you need a 67-68 camaro hub kit to correctly fit the truck column diameter. If you go on Early Classic Enterprises website and look up the red 68 they restored there are pics of the wheel you are looking at. Here is a pic that shows the slightly bigger hub (non-67) :

Of course, I havent had a chance to actually try this out yet, so you might want to check this out better before buying if there is a parts dealer in your area.
