Shake Down Run @ Silver Lake sand dunes
Well, I finally got the Blazer out for a little fun in the sun a couple of weeks ago for the first real drive. A bunch of us and our families meet up at the Silver Lake State park each year for a little fun on the dunes. This year, that ended up being my shake down run with the Blazer. Below are a few highlight pics from the trip. Long story short, even with thousands of acres of the best dunes around...the solitary mud pit still lured me in....hey, I can't help it!!! Mudding with an open top is SSSOoooo much fun!
The Blazer ran awesome, the motor was really strong, and nothing (major) broke...the only casulties from the weekend were a shock and turn signal lamp in my front bumper. I still can't figure out why the lamp broke ...hmmmmmm.....(yes, I was able to drive out...I just couldn't see!) The dunes were nice and steep due to a strong wind the first day that we were there, but I was able to get up & over all of them without drama (but with a little air ). The family & I have been tooling around town in it every chance that we get since that weekend. Now all I have to do is find some time to finish the body work & slap a fresh coat of paint on her and she'll be good to go!! |

The switches are for accessories like the offroad lights. I've also got the MSD ignition box grounded through one of them and another switchs make portions of the ignition hot. Long story short if the right combo of switches (they are also mislabeled & some are flipped, so the "on" direction of one switch is the "off" direction of another) isn't thrown and the key is turned at the wrong time....the truck isn't starting!
