I'm installing a TPI motor and 700R4 in my 70' C10 2wd Short. The stock crossmember just won't seem to go back in. I will be bagging my truck in the future so can you guys recommend an aftermarket crossmember to work?

Any other tips for this install would be helpful.

I'm looking at the ECE crossmember but i wanted to check here first.

all i had to do was slide the motor foward about 1/4 inch...the holes in the motor mounts were elongated so this was not a problem.....and put my stock x-member in the th400 location...then everything bolted right up.

the motor mounts i'm taliking about are the ones that bolt from the frame to the x-member the 2 holes in the top on the frame are elongated.

I used the stock one with my 700R in the 8 and 6 cyl position. You may have to drill new holes in the frame but it will work even with a bagged truck. The ECE or CPP and Brothers crossmembers are all the same. I have seen it in a local shop here looked good but why spen the money if yours will work ? Be sure to install the stocker with the slope back not towards the front.
