Nobody?????

Ive tried the -Google search- the FAQ- and i still cant find it.

I have a 70 c-10 and think that i have the longer axles but am not sure.

If so they should swap with 71-72. but I cant find the measurements for 67-70 and 71-72

I'm trying to swap from 6 lug to 5 lug and a friend has some newer axles for free.

please help

Swap

If you have a 70 rearend, you can swap. You can measure the housing from backing plate to backing plate. It should be right at 57". If that's the case you can swap axles. You can also check the code on the housing. Most 70 model housings had a 3 digit code like the 71/72 trucks. I just found the measurement for the narrow axle. 30 11/16 and I think the longer axle is aprox. 3/4" longer.

I'm not sure of the measurments exactly, but I do know from personal experience that only SOME of the '70 year model rear ends will swap into a 71-2. I bought a '70 rear that I know was original to the truck and the axles were a different length than my 71-2 rear. I guess it just depends on the build dates on the '70 rears? I know 70 rears come both ways.
