Found a perfect take-off tailgate--cost me thousands $$$
This TG is so nice, there is not a ding in it. It was pulled when new for a camper and the bed floor is the same. I paid thousands of dollars for this TG!

Quiz!
What are the extra metal straps and carriage bolts for on each side of the rear of the bed floor?
The answer a little later after I watch some unlimited hydros. |

Did they mount some sort of step for the camper? I see eight extra bolts there, are there eight more on the other side?

my grandfather did something like that to his truck when i was youger. except he did it to cover up holes in the floor caused by the rear bumper brackets coming up through the floor when he got rear ended.

Wicked Find! Amazing! Have no clue on those strips with the bolts but it had to be some type of GM option tho looks as tho those 4 bolts next to the bed side the floor is molded for their placement anyway...

That's the ultra rare factory camper wiring contact points. The guy that invented them went on to make it big by miniaturizing them and putting them in the door jams of cars and trucks to rid you of those unsightly wires. One side is the + wires for 12v, left and right blinker and back up lights. The other side is the - grounds.

Wrong!
Well, you are all wrong. The bolts and straps are used to hold the four huge/heavy pieces of railroad iron mounted under the bed! What in the world was that for? Less bounce? Better traction? Level ride?
This is a new one on me. I think I will just leave them. Sorry guys, I just don't think I can part this one...paid way too much for it...BUT I will probably put it on the Trucks For Sale Board for around $4,000 in a few days. It has complete AC, too! |

Frank, you better back the b***ch up to your shop and strap a couple of pit bulls to it to protect that tailgate. Or better yet, just pull it off and hang it on the wall like I did...LOL! Paint your repro gate and put it on the truck when you sell it.
