got a new heartbeat for the truck

picked this up from "bigdaddycmu" in MI this weekend. it's .40 over with a crane 272 cam, edel intake, 781 heads and 3 angle valve job.

now i have to decide if i want it to go in the 71 or the 85..... decisions...decisions.

You might want to save that 4.3 in your 85, gas prices aren't getting any lower...

i hear ya! i left here and gas was $2.07, not in MI, it was $2.43 it cost me $175 to go there and back in an 02 z71 w/5.3. i think i'm gonna keep the 4.3 in it. i still got a killer deal though so i can't complain. i think i'll save it for my 71 but i never post much over there anymore since it is on the backburner.

a 4.3 doesnt get any better milage than a small block in a fullsize truck. of course we are talking a big block here, so the loud pedal would (or at least should) definitely be used excessively.

yeah, i have a bad lead foot . you're right though about gas mileage. i had a jimmy w/a 4.3 and i bet it got the same to +3 miles a gallon better than a 350. it depended on how i was driving. 1-1/2 to 2 MPG almost makes it not even worth it . the 4.3 in it runs like a sewing machine though so unless it blows i guess it's staying .

Damn, sweet looking engine. I think it should go in whatever one would be better off with it or I could be kind and take it off your hands.
