Tires and wheels
I know it has been asked before, but the "sticky" for tires and wheels doesn't have the info and search is down.
How wide can I go? I want to put the widest tire and wheel combo I can, without modifying the wheel opening or the frame. I will mini tub (cut the bed floor out and resize the wheel well, and will roll the inside of the wheel well opening if necessary, but do not want to cut the narrow the frame. Any pics would also be appreciated. Keith

For most of our trucks, the max you are going to tuck under is something with a 4.5" backspacing. In Most states your wheels and tires must also remain within the wheel wells, so you are probably looking at an 8" to 9" wide rim. Tires, whatever is recommended for those width wheels will normally clear. Tire measurements are not always exact between brands. If you want to keep all the wheels the same, you are probably limited to 8" wide and 4.5" backspacing. I have not seen any larger width sizes used on the front that don't have issues with clearance.
I have two sets for my truck, both on 15x8 with 4.0 back spacing. For street use, 275x60x15 and other use is 31x10.50x15. No clearance issues as far as hitting, and the both combinations come even with the outer edge of the fender so they would be legal in all states from that perspective. I goofed mine were 4.0 Back spacing instead of the 4.5 I originally posted

Me too!
Currently I have aftermarket slots, 15x8.5 w/4.5" back spacing and 275/60/15 tires and I am not close to the inside or outside of the fenderwells. I think I have seen some of the members with 15x10 wheels in the rear.
