Brake Boot Question

The rubber boot on my brake rod to master cyl. was gone and hot air was coming in the truck. Got a new one. It has 5 holes in it! Am I missing something? how is that going to seal off the air leak? Also, which way does this go in, holes in or out. I thought this was going to be a quick simple job but I can't believe what I've gotten into. Its a 72 chebbie k10 with power brakes.

I think maybe the holes go inside and are used to maybe help it compress as you push it from the firewall side.

There are two boots on the power brake setup. One goes onto the booster and it has holes in it. The other boot fits into the firewall and the booster rod fits into the boot. It only has the rod hole so everything is sealed.

GMC Paul has the correct boot, it is PN 360354.

Here is a link. http://www.gmcpauls.com/brakes_2.htm
