Factory Roll Bar - What's It Worth

I just e-mailed a guy and asked if his roll bar was still for sale. His reply was yes / make me an offer. I'm new to Blazers and don't know what these are worth. He says no dents and in good shape. Any ideas?

Thanks, Scott

If it's a factory one in NICE shape $100 would be an awesome deal for you. $150 is still a good deal, but since he says name the price start low. Heck, maybe even $75 and see what they say. You can always go higher.
If I had a 4x4 I was returning to stock form I would probably go to $250 pretty easily.

Got mine for $40 and spent $100 on sandblasting and powdercoating. Looks like new.

Scott,

I payed 250.00 for mine but I'm no good at negotiating
and he knew what he had plus the law of supply and
demand kicked in. I think that would be top dollar. If
you have to ship it try Grayhound.

Good Luck

Factory roll-bar? You guys sure? I remeber when these trucks were in the dealerships, and I dont rmember them. Maybe a dealer option. Anyone have a build sheet showing them with a option code?

They are few and far between, but someone on here should have an option sheet with one listed. I am almost positive it was a factory option.

I'd guess that dealers could add them too if the customer wanted one. Most of them I've seen for sale run in the $100-250 range. Like HatGuy mentioned, supply and demand. If a bunch of people want them and there are only a few for sale at a given time, the price goes up.

Thanks for your help guys. The roll bar is about a 1000 miles from me in Denver CO so going to pick it up is no good. I'll try Greyhound, any other shipping Ideas.

Thanks, Scott

The roll bars I have seen that where made for our Jimmys/ Blazers were made by Smittybuilt Bars and bumpers. You could also get the windshield cage kit for it, that you could weld to the roll bar.

I don't think mine is "factory". It had a sticker
on It from some company, not Smittybuilt, in
Cali. I think they were dealer or owner installed.

The Smittybilt ones have rear supports that go behind the wheel wells. From what I have seen here on the board, the "factory" ones mount to the wheel well. They also look to be smaller diameter tubing than the smitty. I have a smitty in my '69 and it looks fairly beafy. The rear supports are bolted on rather than welded. Every now and then, a front "cage" for a smittybilt shows up for sale.

No not dealer installed. I only got it a year ago
from a board member. The supports go on the
front part of the wheel wells and the main bar
has a slight rise in the middle. The pipe it's made
from is 2 1/2" OD.
I'll try to take some pics tomorow an learn how
to post them.
Somebody help!

I have a factory installed roll bar that bolts to the front of the wheel well. It does not appear to ever have been removed and the truck has never been restored. I will take a pic tommorrow. Nothing on my glove box sticker either.

Hatguy,I think Meathead95 was saying the one you have is a dealer-installed "type".Being dealer-installed in the Blazer it originally came from.

Thanks again for all the help. One last ?. Anyway to tell if it's original/dealer install to our trucks. I saw one the other day that mounted on the backside of the wheel tub, not the front like most I've seen. Did they make different styles? When buying one, what should I look for in being an option on a 72'.

Thanks, Scott

Meathead,
Don't know if I ever told you I got it
sanblasted and powder coated gloss
black. It looks so much like it belongs
on my Blazer. I'm really happy with it.
Thanks

From what I've seen/read, the rollbar that mounts to the front of the wheel well is the one ususally referred to as "factory" although I believe it was a dealer add on. All others I believe are aftermarket, although that doesn't mean they could not have been dealer installed unless they weren't available til after '72. Just my .02.
