73-87 Convertible Pick-Up
This has likely been asked. But, has anyone ever made the roof removeable or even added a convertible roof to a 73-87 pick-up?
Any reason you couldn't? Like frame/body issues. Any pics of of something like this. I've always wanted to try this. - Dave

I have seen a few done in the past. Believe it or not, I don't have any pics on file. For some reason it seems that people choose to do stepsides more often that fleetsides, which doesn't work for me.
Any time you remove the roof off of a vehicle there is going to be considerable body flex. You would need to build a perimeter cage like structure to prevent that. It wouldn't hurt to box your frame as well....

I also have seen this done, but I've seen a fleetside. I don't have any pics, but the best looking thing to do is cut it under the back window, and put Silverado trim on it to cover it up.

I haven't seen it on a full size but my friend cut the top off his S-10. I think he bought a kit. He also beefed up the body behind the seat.

I agree, and it also appears to have the '67 buddy buckets in it.

If there was a way to make the cab and bed the same height, it would look good!

I've seen conversion kits for like $400 and ragtop kits for $800 in one of the mags that comes to the house. But how do you address the upper window channel. Gasket???
I really thought about it.verry tempting. bob

Thanks for the pix & replies. I'm gonna save this hack job for one of those "HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS" moments.
