Strange thing happened today
I got in my 71 today and drove into town. Several times at about 40 mph the engine just quit, (never done this before today) like the switch was shut off and then she would start up again on her own. Its an auto trans and when it quit at a slower speed (20mph)I pulled into a lot ,put it in park, and started it. It started right up but the starter made a hell of a racquett, it was stuck engaged! I shut the key switch off but the engine didn't die, at least until I wiggled the key.
After that all happened I started the truck and drove the rest of the way to town, it never died again, I started it about 10 different times and the starter never stuck, all is normal now. What the heck happened? Is the ignition switch dying on me?

unplug the harness from the back of the ignition switch... look for burns or melting in the plug AND on the back of the ignition switch.
