There's a retainer clip at the base of each arm. Kind of like the inside door handle. I cant remember what type of clip it is though. I do remember it was a pain in the butt to remove them. I think I used a set of small needle nose pliers. I'll double check when I get off of work...

Put a rag on the cowl and use a claw hammer just under the edge on the back side to pry up, hang on to the arm as it will fly off and scratch your paint.

here i had this from a previous post
![]() don't mind the blue marks. first push the clip in the direction of the arrow, and pry off arm in direction of it's arrow. more than likely it won't just come off, use pb blaster or oil and pull or pry hard. watch the paint on the cowl and you could bent the metal there if you pry too hard. |

Although I am sure people have done it by pushing the clip up, my advise is to get this . I tried the same advise given here but none of it worked. I bought this tool and it came off in 2 seconds. The tool actually goes over the top so there is no danger of messing up the cowl (something I already had done before buying the tool

Sometimes those arms seem damn near welded on. I bought the remover tool from JC Whitney about 10 years ago and for 5 bucks I'd do it again if I lost the one I have. For that kind of money, there's just no reason to risk scratching up your cowl or shoving a screwdriver through your palm...
