I am looking for a good torque converter. What do you guys recommend, and What is the mechanical difference in a locking one over a non locking one. I also need a rebuild kit for a locking th350. Is there a difference in the kits?

kinda depends on the application.... is it for stock, racing, or ??.... the lockup units have what's called a "torque converter clutch" .... I'm not certain about the TH350 lockup units, but have a look at this link for more info on the subject...

Thats a kick as* site. I learned more in the last five minutes it took to read that site than I have from talking to so called tranny mechanics. I still would like to know if anyone knows where to buy a good rebuild kit for a locking th350.

Do the 350 and 400 trannies take the same stall converter? I have a 2,400 B&M Torquemaster stall from a turbo 400 (sold the tranny) but it wouldn't be a lockup. Or I also have a 2,400 B&M stall for a 700R4 and is a lockup. I thought it wasn't locking up so I bought another one and I guess it was because the new lockup converter does the same thing. Let me know if you are interested. I need to sell them lots of $$ tied up.

How much for the B&M. Yes th350 &400 convertors are the same, so I was told.

I thought the 400 had a larger bolt pattern to the flywheel.

I am not sure why I didn't think of it before, but the flywheel has nothing to do with whether or not the tc will fit. It is the shaft on the tranny. I am gonna look into a few more things and let you know 72chevylwb. Probably yes though. How long did you use it. Was it abused any, and how much.

I mena if you were to pull out a TH350, and install the verter out of a TH400, if your flexplate is not drilled for both patterns, you may have a problem.
