I put spindles and disc brakes from a 1972 C10 on my 1969. I used drop springs on the front and rear

I've seen people posting that they used the entire crossmember from models all the way up to 1980 something...they seem pretty good about interchange (goes well with the interchangability of the Chevy small block, huh!).

You can use 71~87 disc brake stuff. You'll want to make sure to get the 1.25" thick rotors vs. the LT duty 1" rotors found on some of the later models.
As for lowering, since you'll already be swapping to disc brake spindles, just get some new drop spindles from BellTech or WesternChassis. You can add some 2" drop springs or trim 1 coil off the stock ones if on a budget.
