manual choke
I installed a new Q-jet on my truck and i dont think the choke is working right. when its cold, i have to keep my foot on the gas, otherwise it will die. what do i need to do to convert this to a manual choke?
is the choke even my problem here? i think it is since it seems to run fine when warm.

Haven't seen a manual choke conversion for a Q-Jet, why don't you just fix the choke you have?

cuz im not sure whats wrong with it.lol i just replaced the carb, so i think the vac actuator part is working fine. i read that to adjust that lil coil thingy, you are supposed to bend the rods or something, and i would probably just end up braking it if i tried.
reason i say this is that before the truck was idling fine, and i parked it, today i start it up, and the engine is cold, and it wants to die if i didnt rev it up myself. after it warmed up, it was fine.

Check to see if the choke is closed before starting (cold). Start engine and see choke opens a small amount. If is ok to here set this screw(fast idle screw up until engine run with it in gear.

I think I got my manual choke conversion kit in the Help section at Checker Auto. I used it to convert a Carter 9635 to manual choke. Holley and Edelbrock both sell manual kits for their stuff. But that other one was a generic universal conversion kit.
