'Nuther Texan on the board.

I'm new to the C10 biz and chevys in general. I am in the process of buying a shortbox '62 fleetside. I will try and search the archives to get answers to my neophyte questions as best I can. But I'm sure I will ask questions that you all have fielded before. I hope to learn much from this board.

About me, I have been a Ford guy mostly, but Cadillacs and GM trucks have always had a place in my heart. I had been in search of a knee knocker shortbed in particular. I wanted a '63, but I got a deal on a '62 that I could not pass on. Not too bad a truck either, but definately a project vehicle. I was building a '27 Model T traditionally styled hot rod until I got transferred to TX. Like a dumbass I sold my project, I guess at the time I did what I thought I had to do given the situation. Oh well, water under the bridge.

Now I have my Chevy and I am happy. My plans are to lower it, so I will be looking for info on that. But here is my game plan:

1. Get it roadworthy first.
2. Take sections of it apart at a time. (may have to do this first, dunno)
3. Plan modifications with regards to engine/chassis.
4. Customize the body (tastefully)

Welcome to the board from California!!!

I too have a swb '62. I've did alot to mine in the last 4 1/2 years i've owned mine, so any questions on engine/ trans swap, brakes, electrical, etc.
Let me know, and i'll be glad to help.

What engine and trans does your '62 have? And do you have anymore pics of your '62? I can't get enough of these trucks.

Thanks to all, hey hillbilly & TR, nice to see other HAMBers are into chevomolet trucks. As far as I know, it will have a 235. It was advertised as a '63 to me with a six. I was stoked because I could go to any parts store and get whatever I needed because a 230 is a 250's little brother, etc. I know jack all about 235's, are they cartridge or spin on? Can you get them easily?

Welcome,
Great project, 235 is fun but 250 is better and easier to update. Dont cut the floor board whatever you do,unless you run a muncie! Good luck.
