Replacement front spring - questions?
I am going to replace the front springs in
my C-10 with a 350 engine. Looking at GMCPauls website, he has listed a standard spring and a variable rate one, which ones are the best to use. This truck will only be used on the street (as a daily driver) and will probably never really haul much, maybe tow a trailer at most. Any input? Thoughts on what is the best springs to use. I may also end up replacing the rears as well (they are coils too) THANKS! ------------------ 71 Chevy C-10 SWB Fleetside WAS:307w/3-on-the-tree NOW:350TBI/700R4/3.73 See it at www.prismnet.com/~grzanich

I asked the same questions. I just replaced my front and rears from GMCPaul. I went with stock height variable rate front and 4 inch rear. I havent driven mine much. I droped the front with spindles. I have just (Friday night) put new shocks on I have not got the front end realigned so I am going to try to do that this week. I went over a dip with a buddy in the truck and the tire bottomed out on the inner finder just barely barely kissed one of the bolts this was before I put on the shocks. I was told the shocks for the lowered truck are stiffer and that was my problem. The little I have driven it it corners GREAT. the ride is good too. My old springs were worn and completly shot. To answer your question I dont know? My variable rate seem good but it seems to sit lower in the front than I would have expected.
I will let you khow more as I drive it more. Hopefully this week. Dave

I also purchased a spring, shock, drop spindle kit from GMCPaul...I bought the variable springs...Rides great & much improved handling w/o any problems.
