Steering Column after floor shifter install
I have a B&M floor shifter in my truck.. I removed the gear shift off of my column, but I was wondering..
Is there a way to remove the gear indicator, and the bit that changes the gears from the column.. Maybe replace it with a column from a standard.. is this possible.. and if so where can i find something like this.. I looked on lmctruck.. with no luck.. |

It's possible to do but the standards are hard to find in a tilt version. Swervin Ervin did this with his http://73-87.com/7387garage/interior/msd_shiftlight.htm Great idea and kept his auto column.

It's a Grant 1180 Signature series wheel. I used the Grant 5195 billet hub kit and 5876 bowtie horn button.

No, they are Rockford Fosgate 6" speakers. The tweeters are Cerwin Vega's The enclosures are Q-Logic kick panel enclosures.

I purchased my 4-speed tilt column (hence, no shifter provision) from a guy on Ebay. His ID is steeringcolumnologist
It was COMPLETELY rebuilt and included everything I needed, including the intermediate shaft. I paid $200 IIRC.

I just sold a non-tilt floor shift column 2 months ago on here for $20. Try the wrecking yards, they are pretty common.

When i installed my floor shifter i used my trusty ol' dremmel tool and i cut that li'l shift knob thingie off and used some Epxo 88 to fill it in and sanded it down and painted it you cannot even tell it was ever there.
Iv'e had people at shows ask me if it's a four on the floor and thats exactlly what i was aiming for. As for the gear selection indicator i used some 2" flat black electrical tape and just removed the dash bazle and stuck the tape to the clear plastic lens and put it all back to geather and when you look at it it's blank. |
