Well i finally got my act together and got some work done
![]() ![]() Cant wait for the lift to settle and my new 33's to get put on tomorrow! ![]() ![]() ![]() This is a 4" front, 6" rear, BDS spring kit. I couldnt tell you how it rides really... my susp. was dead the last year, so the ride couldnt have been much worse no matter what ![]() Some might ask so i'll let you know now, in the picture on top to the right... that bracket deal to the left of the shock.... thats a oaky-rigged piece of metal bolted to the frame, and another on the other side two. They drop down far enough for a 2.5" tube to joint the two at the bottom. From the center of the tube runs a thick ass piece of metal Back, under the gas tank, and finished up under the trailer hitch. I guess this would some what serve as a gas tank guard??? Luckily the custom fab by the PO ended there ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Medicanman71; 09-26-2005 at 04:53 AM. |

2 pictures before the lift (and fasttrac)
Maybe i should just keep the 31's? ![]() Rockers ARE solid, and the spot infront of the rear right tire was fixed up 100% way back in HS a few years ago in Auto Body. Still solid as ever. No dips or bumps when you run your fingers over the area. Oh and the corner of the drivers door was a little dinged up on the bottom so i smoothed that out too. No money for paint though ![]() Last edited by Medicanman71; 09-26-2005 at 04:51 AM. |

Looks good with that lift, should work great with those 33's.
You'd get away with 35's playing in the sand if you wanted to go bigger. ![]() |

looks good. The ride is never the same as stock, but you get used to it and I actually prefer the "bumpy" ride. Kinda lets you know "yeah, its lifted"
I have AT 33's on my 69. They look cool and are good on the road. One more thing..looks like you got a bit of seepage on the rear differential. May want to change out the gear oil. If ya do, no gasket needed, just use some gasket maker.

Looks like that bar you were typing about is to reinforce the hitch itself?

Good suggestions guys. 35's would be cool... but i still only have a 10bolt and dana 44.... i dont want to start breaking more parts. We'll see how fast it gets up and goes, and even more important how quick i can stop with 33's. They're also a bit cheaper then 35's! But you're right, i'll always have room for them! The tech at big O wasnt sure if 33's would clear
![]() ![]() Jakeslim, good call.... i plan on checking the diffs, and other fluids before i drive 5 hours south down here to SLO. As far as the ride, it still needs to settle and i still need to get used to it.. but its not too rough at all for me. The BDS springs are tapered and have the teflon (or what ever) pads inbetween at the end. .. they're pretty smooth. BDS also has the no fine print warranty grendel i think you're right ... it had the old trailer brake thing/deal still under the dash. I wonder what the PO used to pull. The th350 was re-built before i got the truck a few years ago , so its pretty strong, no slop. Its a montana truck that lived in Oakland for a few months before i got it. So i'm the 3rd owner. Sorry i went on and on typing about it. It was a late night post and i was a bit out'a it ![]() ![]() Thanks Yukon ! I'm sure it will look even better with the new tires! It probably looks pretty slick with the sides zipped on the top too..., i have the black tint ones. |

The front has Tuff country springs, and 4" blocks and add a leafs in the back. I plan on getting some Tuff Country rear springs this winter.

Nice looking K5! My '72 has that same half-ass reciever hitch set up too, tabs welded to frame and a square tube under the tank running out to the bumper.
