a/c help

Has anyone ever had the orifie tub filter get stuck in their ac condesnsor? Mine is stuck in there and I cannot get it out even with a pair of needle nose plyres, as I haver tried pieces are breaking away on it. I disconected the accumulator and trying blowing it out with compressed air, but nothing happened. Right now I have a long screw screwed in to it to pull it out but its in there pretty tight, so if I start yanking on it pretty hard will I screw any thing else up in the process? If you had one stuck how did you get it out?

Tom

Oh this is my 86 c10 its stuck in.

That isn't your condenser, it's the evaporator. It will be ok to take it out in pieces, just make sure you get them all. Don't use anything that will scratch the walls of the tube its in or the new one won't seal. It needs to seal well to make sure the liquid refrigerant from the condenser is all atomized so it can do it's job in the evaporator.

Also be very careful of the threads on the outside of that tube and the tube itself. The soft aluminum is very easy to damage.

Thanks El Gracho, but a little late since I screwed it up already. Yep those are thin walls going into the evaporator. The orifice tube was completely lodged in the and was not coming out. I finally tried using a small drill bit inside, that worked to a point, well I poked a hole through the tube -ouch!

So anyone have an evaporator for an 86 c10 they want to sell.
