Z'ed Steering Question
I want to begin Z'ing my frame on my 66 C10. My question is what do you guys do for the steering on a Z'ed frame. Add a joint to the steering column shaft?
Thanks Shane |

Depends on how big your Z is. You will probably need 2 joints, maybe 3.

you can also notch your UCA... if you get a piece of 2"OD tubing, say .125 wall thickness, cut the notch out, take a short piece of the tubing, cut it in half, and weld it in, youve got a notched UCA and arent losing any strength. thats what i did with mine, and ive seen 1 or 2 other done that way. keep in mind i did have 1 u-joint and the very top of the steering shaft where it comes through the firewall and connects to the steering column because i was running a firebird tilt column and they come through the firewall at a different angle.

Im sorry but i cant post many pics these days. the only pics i have from the frame mods are limited, and i cant go out and get a pic for 3 reasons. 1 - no digital camera. 2 - i live 8 hrs from my panel. 3 - it got burnt to the ground... but ill get some more pics eventually, espeically when i get started on my other one here in a month or two
