Trans question

While driving in one of the POS shop trucks today, i accidently took off with the shifter in second gear. (96-ish F-one fix-me inline/AOD) I had forgotten that some Fords you can place the automatic in second and take off in that gear, instead of starting in first and going to second and staying there untill shifting manually. My old 68 Cougar was the same way...the owners manual said it was good for taking off in the snow and rain.
My question concerns the TH350 bolted to my 500 CID Caddy mill. Is there a way I can modify my tranny to do the same thing as that POS Ford? This thing with it's tall skinney rock hard tires is a hand full in the rain, and come winter, it's going to be fun trying to take off from a stand still.
Anyone have any ideas or hard facts?

you could with a full manual valve body BUT taking off in second gear with a th350 doubles the load on the sprag and it will break shortly.

Manual valve body or get a feather for that gas pedal foot.

Forget the 2nd gear starts. Put a few 3 wire bales of hay in the back.
