bent axle
Well i discovered that I have a bent rear axle shaft on my k-10. It's bent near the mounting flange, but for some reason I can't feel any wobble when I drive down the road, yet when I look at the wheel in the mirror, it's wobbling like crazy!!
Anyway, I want to know what parts will interchange with my axle. The truck has a 12 bolt rear with the skinny 2" drums. Will axles from any 12 bolt fit, or will the narrower drums need a shorter axle shaft? I 've thought about just swapping the whole rear end, but If I can just put in a new shaft that would be better. thanks for any help Jason

One question, are you sure it's not the center of the rim that's bent?

positive Jim. First i switched the rear wheels to see if it did with both wheels and it did. After that, I took the wheel off, and spun the axle with the other wheel while a buddy watch, and you could see that it was bent at the flange.
Also, I rolled this truck backwards into a ditch 3 years ago, and coincidentally, that wheel was the one that took the full force of the impact before the truck rolled. I figure if I can't feel the wobble now, maybe it's been bent since the accident?? So does anyone know if any axle shaft from a 12 bolt will fit?

I'm not sure about the 2wds since their width varied. Any 4wd should fit. I've never heard of the 12 bolts in 4wds coming in different widths. You will need to get it from the same side though, because I believe they are differnet lengths side to side.(the 3/4 tons are, eaton or dana60 or 14BFF)
