Any install a H Pipe

Was you satisfied with the outcome..

My truck seems to run and sound better without it..

Just wanted to hear someone elses experiences

H pipe is older technology. X pipe is where there is some difference to be noticed. Although, I've got an H pipe on my ride It also depends where you put it, how it was welded in, etc. Also, carb may need re-tuned to optimize this. It quietened mine down considerably,took some of the cam chop out, but performance was/is exactly the same.

I've had them on all my trucks! Butter didn't have one on his truck and was ready to change mufflers untill I talked him into trying one!

10.39 1/4 @ 125.83

Nitrous Times:
5.785 1/8 @ 118.65 with a 1.336 60ft
9.168 1/4 @ 142.58 with a 250 shot dead out of the hole!

How does the H pipe quiet the exhaust down. I do not understand. Without the H pipe the exhause would be louder?

Butter's exhaust was real raspy sounding without. But it sounds much more smooth with the h pipe!

Yea it equalizes the exhaust pulses, really tones it down, makes that big cam sound like a mild cam. Works great on the street.

In what way is the X pipe better than the H pipe? Does it also quiet it down?

I am planning on putting a H pipe in my system. Does it matter where it goes ? I cant really fit it till the back of the tail shaft on the tranny. I kinda like how loud my truck is.
It's good because when people hear me coming they get out of the way.

No expert here, as I have not put one in any of my exhaust systems YET. I have read the proper location to install the pipe is found by having all the exhaust work done minus the h pipe first. Then draw lines down each exhaust pipe with a wax based marking pencil (like a red china marker) between the manifolds or collector to the mufflers. Then drive the vehicle around a bit, get it up to operating temperature, and shut it off. Supposedly the most optimum spot for the h pipe will be where the wax marks on the pipe stopped melting off...... ?? Read it in Hot Rod magazine about a year ago.

H or X pipe seems to have very minimal effect on the vehicle. I can never tell any difference, although it is supposed to improve torque. It is usually 4 or 5 hp...not worth it for the cost & work & clearance problems to me.
I do use them to quiet down or change the loud zones in Flo-Master type systems if they are annoying. I had a BB sub that just reververated inside at 60-70 mph...the H pipe moved the roar down to about the 30 mph area...then it was kind of fun, because you could drive through it and then travel down the road in reasonable quiet.
I have a 350 that had a nice low sound in the exhaust, until a temporary owner added an H pipe. Now it sort of "buzzes"...really bad sound.
