Info for Bucket Seats

I want to put bucket seats in my 83 C-10, but there will still be a need for the center to accomodate a carseat. I just wanted to see if anyone had good info on donor vehicles and maybe some pics of installs done. Thanks for any help you can give.

Re: Info for Bucket Seats

First i'd like to say to the moderators, the new site looks great.

Well i made another trip to the salvage yard friday morning, i've put the bucket seat idea on hold for now, but i found an 85 suburban in great condition with the buckets and center console...i took both front doors with the power windows/locks and good vent windows and decent inside panels. I wired the windows up to a center switch...pics attached. I still have to clean the switch area up, but you can see where i'm going with it.

Re: Info for Bucket Seats

what are you going to do with the holes in the door panels? Why didn't you leave the switchs in the doors?

Re: Info for Bucket Seats

hotrodhomi, the door panels are going to be smooth with only the armrest and door handle, they will be covered in material eventually once i find the right pattern and type of material.
Billybob750, unfortunately as i stated before these were salvage yard doors, i was lucky to find them with glass and motors, let alone all the switches and wiring harness. The switches had been pulled from the front and the wiring cut right there on both doors, no window or power lock switches at all. I don't know if you've priced these switches or not or had to try to make one work without the appropriate wiring harness, but i figured a $30 setup from SPAL is okay by me. As far as easy access is concerned, i can reach them just fine.
I hope that covers everything...

Re: Info for Bucket Seats

Thats cool Put them switches out of the door and else where. Little one will be safe from playing with them. Guessing a car seat = a toddler. They push buttons! Good for you koreric75......... child safety.............

with the child in mind that is a great idea especially for the fact you wont be smoking around the little one anway, i know a friend that l;ost there child due to electric windows she was sticking here head out the window and stepped on the switch while in the way of the window and she hung herself. very safe and cool mod for the truck.

Re: Info for Bucket Seats

Thanks larry may & 86GMG, you are correct i have a 2 1/2 year old boy that loves buttons switches and the like. Back to the seats, since buckets aren't quite practical at this stage i was wondering if anyone has tried the seats from http://www.discountvantruck.com/truc...benchseats.htm Discount truck & van. They are supposed to bolt right to your existing seat brackets.
