Need some help with swap PLEASE!!

I have a 5 lug crossmember out of an 81 1/2 ton 2wd Chevy to put in my '70 2wd. I was wondering if there are 6 lug rotors available anywhere. The reason why I am wondering is because I got 5 lug rear axles out of a '77 gm van 12 bolt and they are longer thn my 12 bolt 6 lug axles. So if anyone knows what year and model 12 bolt rear end that I can pull 5 lug axles out of that will fit my '70 12 bolt, other wise I am going to leave the rear 6 lug and try to change the crossmember to 6 lug.

Thanks in advance for helping me with my mess.....Terry

cpp has the rotors you need. they use 73-87 spindles. www.classicperform.com as far as the rear end goes, you could get a conversion kit with the saddles for the trailing arms but cutting and welding is involed. might be easier to get just the rotors.

Early Classic has an axle conversion kit for the rear. Not sure if it'll work with your housing but it should. Give them a call, or check out www.earlyclassic.com

Re: Need some help with swap PLEASE!!

You can always have a machine shop re-drill your 6 lug axles for 5 lug also...

Re: Need some help with swap PLEASE!!

Don't know if this will help much but I owned a 1965 Chevy Truck which I switched the front over to Disc and also had five lug rotors. The front clip used was out of a 72 Chevy. I did some looking and the bearings for the rotor were identical size to that of a 3/4 ton. I took my 5 lug rotor to Autozone and compared it to a 1999 or 2000 Chevy 2WD 3/4 ton 6 lug rotor and found a match. I should say that the bearings matched. The rotor was possibly 1/8 of an inch smaller in diameter so I do not know how that would have worked or if it would have at all. I have to apologize though, I do not have all of the info of the truck I pulled the front clip off of since this was the first project I ever attempted a long time ago. I sold the truck before I ever decided to go through with it and try it out. If nothing else, it is worth a try. It could save you $$$. (Not always the best thing to do) If you have any questions let me know and I will see if I can help out.

Jay

crossmember with 6 lug front disc brakes

I was wondering if any 73-87 trucks came with 6 lug front disc brakes, I wanted to swap out my 69 front crossmember for a 6 lug with disc brakes.

No they did not, that's the only reason we are talking about this swap. They do make a conversion aftermarket rotor that will give you 6 lug on a 73-87 spindle but if they ever stop producing them or if you need one quickly you are kinda screwed...
