steering and brakes??

I have a trip planned to the local junk yard today, and I have a couple of questions with regard to interchange-ability.....

I need a powersteering box for a 70 3/4t 4x4, as well as a power brake booster.....what other years will work for these parts?? (pretty sure my scrap yard wont have a 67-72 4x4 sitting somewhere) Do I want to stick with a 3/4t or higher?

Also, aside from the pump, line, and steering box, is there any other parts I need to take with me to do that swap?
Thanks

Re: steering and brakes??

You need all the pulleys for a complete conversion set-up.If it`s after`72,make sure the water-pump is short,or at least the same as what`s on your truck.Measure yours first. The boxes are the same K/5-K/20.GM lists the box as the same up to`76 or through`75,4wd only.I paid $175 for the conversion many years ago. But,parts are that much older now.I wouldn`t pay more than that now. It`s hard to find a good 30 year old box.I ended up replacing the one from my conversion with a new factory unit for $300+.

edit:That`s steering,what about brakes?

Re: steering and brakes??

I think the booster for the 3/4 ton is a heavier duty unit than a half ton booster, so that my limit you to 67-72 3/4 ton and up. There's no diff in how they bolt up, so you could get away with 1/2 ton boosters. I think I remember checking part numbers and the car boosters for the same years are the same as the trucks, but I won't swear to that.
