Seat Foam- Who's the best?
I am considering rebuilding a set of low back buckets for my 77 Cheyenne. My understanding is the seat foam is the same from 72-78 for low back buckets. I know there arequit a few 67-72 owners that have rebuilt seats so I thought this would be the best place to ask.
I plan to buy a set and replace everything so I want good quality foam. Who has the best quality seat foam sets?

Re: Seat Foam- Who's the best?
They pretty much all buy them from the same company, Pony Express or something. They started out with mustang seats and branched out... That what I used on my seats - good quality. But expensive.

Re: Seat Foam- Who's the best?
The company that manufactures the seat foams are about 30 miles from me. They are called American Cushion Industries. They are the only company making these foams. The price on the foams is expencive, but I am told that it is because of the price of the chemicals. Seat foams are notoriously high as it is, but with the industrialization of China, that has put a strain on the supply of the chemicals to make the foam. That in turn has driven the prices of the chemicals up, and as we all know the retail prices rise right along with it. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com
Thank you for the compliment 70rs/ss. You are great to work with also.

Re: Seat Foam- Who's the best?
Wes I looked at your site and found the foam listed for 71-72. There wasn't anything listed under 73-87. My understanding is the foam is the same from 71 to 78. Is this correct?
72 longhorn BB- I looked at Cars Inc. site. I can find seat covers for 67-72 but nothing for 73-87 "buckets"....

Re: Seat Foam- Who's the best?
The 73-78 foams are different. I have heard of guys that used the 73-78 bucket seats and streched the 71-72 covers on over them, but I think that the 73-78 seat covers would be too large for the 71-72. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Re: Seat Foam- Who's the best?
Ken, Classic Industries sells 73+ low back seat covers...they have vinyl only covers and cloth/vinyl combo covers. I know they have red too.
I will probably end up buying my covers from a place called Fryers Auto Upholstery (based in WA). They went the extra mile and sent me actual fabric samples...something Classic Industries could or wouldn't do. Thet have great customer service and seem very knowledgable. The covers run $150 for the pair...from either place. I've been looking too.

Re: Seat Foam- Who's the best?
Jeff I see where Fryers has seat foam, but they don't show the covers. I thought I would start by trying to locate the foam first.....

Re: Seat Foam- Who's the best?
n2trux, board member Jamie_72 had a set of 73+ low back bucket seats that if I recall, had excellent foam on them. The 72< and 73> low back seats look the same but in reality are different in the foam, the covers, the frames and the mounts. None of it is interchangeable. You could probably buy & ship the seats from Jamie for less then the cost of the foam. Also keep in mind some of this form rubber is moulded right into and over the metal framing---. Huck
