Re: FINALLY got the pics to work - I think....

Thanks! It's a 72 - pretty plain 6 w/3 on the tree - sat. AM picking up the engine that's going in.... It’s a 454 bored .030 over with Keith Black Pistons, High Volume oil pump, Comp Cam valve springs, heads reworked. New Cam bearings and freeze plugs. The engine is assembled. All I need is the valvetrain (cam and lifters, timing chain, and roller rockers ) Intake and carburetor.
And the parts to finish off are:
Part Number Description
SME-7010 Timing Chain Set - Double Roller w/ Torrington Bearings
SUM1439250 Chromemoly Pushrods
CRN-13744-16 Crane Roller Rocker Arms
CCA-11-318 Comp Cams Magnun 286 Cam
CCA-812-16 Comp Cams Hi-Rev Lifters
EDL-7561 Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap Intake Manifold
HLY-0-4779C Holley 750 CFM Dual Line Double Pumper
500-69110 Hedmad Headers
EDL-4680 Edelbrock Valve Covers
Spark Plug Wires Mallory ??
PNX-D8001 Pertronix Distributor Kit

Supposedly, this engine is specked out (by the racing guy who started it) to make 500hp.... aaaaaaaaaaa..... the fun begins none too soon!!!

Nice lookin' truck. Front and rear chrome bumpers, and it would be a nice cruiser just as it sets. Of course I don't blame you for wanting some HP, LOL!

Geez...why don't ya go find one that already has the motor/trans missing instead of tearing up a perfectly good truck?

Becouse most trucks sold with no engine or tranny is a total crap box?

Becouse there are no trucks in his area with the engine and tranny missing?

Becouse this is a low option non desirable (ok... less desirable) truck?

Relax, it's not a Yencko or a some other low production hot car... it's an inline powered truck. If you don't like what he's doin, then look the other direction, I'm sure there's a LWB inline 3 speed truck in the other direction... but it's probably getting a small block tossed it in.
It looks like you have your fair share of trucks to keep bone booring stock... anyone can screw stock parts onto a truck... but to make a nice hot rod that looks nice, performs well, cruises with good maners, and not looking gay, THAT takes tallent.
Besides, getting date coded gear oil is a b!tch. (This is why I'll never join the chrysler camp....too many whiners)

Hey, throw some smilies in there, LM

It's really not that bad a question. Then again, I am going BBC too.

Nice truck, BTW. To get another one, you should tell her it's hers... you're buying the next one for her. Then she's out in the garage planning and getting greasy with you. Worked for me, a while ago. Now I have to build hers before mine...

Re: FINALLY got the pics to work - I think....

That's a great truck to start with. As long as your keeping another one of these trucks alive that's what matters. I would bury an inliner in a hole if I had a BB too.

Re: FINALLY got the pics to work - I think....

Unfortunately, the PO (2nd owner) got hit in the drivers fender - he knew the insurance guy and they worked the ol' take this much and keep the truck deal - only prob, the title has to read salvaged now (the fender is the only thing that got fixed! - the bumper is still a little crooked) Haven't ascertained whether or not the fender is a replacement. Sooooo with the inline, salvage title, and that engine in the garage (as of SATURDAY!) I have opted to make the changes...

I think the only way to do that would be to rebuild the truck from other truck parts and re-title it.....

I'm not positive if this will work or not, but I believe some states do not have Salvage titles. If you title it there, and then retitle it in another state, that should remove the Salvage. I think I saw it on Dateline NBC or something.

Re: FINALLY got the pics to work - I think....

I'm about 7 minutes from downtown Raleigh - in Garner. The only two I know of so far: one yard is on 70 between Garner and Clayton but it's not the fun kind you can crawl around on your own. There is also one up Rt.1 almost to 85 - they will let you go out and look but you need to take a body with ya.... they charge an arm and a leg for anything. At least for..uhhum... mazda parts. As for the title, I figure that won't be a factor until (if ever) I was to sell it. By then, I think the frame off restore and BB will outweigh the salvage title.... I think... not really worried about it right now and I'd hate to have someone do it to me so.....
