Anyone interested in van tilts?

I have two. Both have tight tilts. Both automatic. Scroll down for PICS

First One is complete and straight with straight connector and neutral safety switch (van position) . Short shift lever $90 plus shipping (still available)

Second one needs a shifter lever and flasher switch/button and turn signal switch/lever and there is what appears to be JB weld around the pin hole (hole is elongated) but doesn't appear to be cracked through on the inside. This has part of a cruise signal arm. This has no cut-out for a neutral Safety switch and has a half moon connector. This had a long shift lever but the tip that goes in the column chipped and the handle was gone. Maybe a good candidate for a floor shift conversion. $45 plus shipping (sold Red71cheyenne)

Please respond in thread only.

Re: Anyone interested in van tilts?

I've never done a conversion before. YOu have to relocate the neutral safety and collapse the bottom steering shaft. Someone I met at a car show says he cuts the shaft shorter and adds the notch and the bolt holds it in place, which kinda makes sense . I was thinking of doing this myself and just add a few vertical grooves with a small cutting wheel for added securitiy. Relocating the neutral safety switch doesn't look that difficult.

Longstep...I'm in Pittsburg

Re: Anyone interested in van tilts?

Can anyone explain why the switch has to be relocateed? Wouldn't it be easier just to make the connecting wires longer? Or am I missing something? ttt for you Greenhorn.

In the truck there are just too many things in the way and will just not work. If it did work no one would take the time and trouble to move the switch. This has to me moved and in FAQ it tells you how to do this.

Re: Anyone interested in van tilts?

It does have to be moved, or it will be in the way of the U bracket that holds the column up inside the cab.

Re: Anyone interested in van tilts?

When I had my 4x4 I ran my neutral safety wire to a toggle, like an ignition kill switch and also toggled the back-up light wire, and I had the stock non-tilt column with the correct switch

I'll try to install a photo editting software later on so I could resize my images and post pictures.

Re: Anyone interested in van tilts?

pictures....

The 3 pictures above and the first pic below are of the tilt that needs work. The $45 tilt.

The last 3 are of the complete tilt. $90

If you pic up, it comes with the steering wheel. No horn buttons on wheels.

Longstep...your next in line. If you want this it is yours.

Tx firefighter...the $45 tilt is sold to Red71. There was a van tilt in about the same shape as this one in a local yard but he wants $70 for regular columns (I didn't ask what he wants for tilts). I may be able to talk him down if he still has it as I bought a few things from him last week, including an AM/FM from this same van that had the tilt in it. I won't be able to go there until Saturday at the earliest, though.

Ray...Longstep is buying that one, and Red71 is taking the other. If I find a nice one I'll let you know. I try not to pull any parts I don't need anymore but sometimes a real nice part is hard to pass on . The one I saw last week, I beleive had a messed up upper part (part where signal lever goes through) I think.
