3 spd differences
I wanted to know if anyone could shed some light on the differences between the 3 spd transmissions used in cars, and the ones used in trucks. I was curious to see if it would be possible to replace a 3 on the tree saginaw unit with a 3 spd out of a car with an overdrive unit. This will be in a 4x4, is this not realistic? Would it be possible to swap the overdrive unit on the tailshaft of my current transmission?

Re: 3 spd differences
Sure seems you would be looking at divorcing your transfer case if you wanted to add an overdrive off the current transmission or a different transmission. That or a custom adapter and your transfer case linkage would have to be modified substantially as the transfer case would be in a totally different place.

Re: 3 spd differences
ahh, I see what you are talking about....I had overlooked that, thanks.....just tossing around ideas for a potential cheap O/D setup....guess its back to the drawing board! I think VTblazer has the best setup for what I am looking to accomplish.....now I just need to figure out where he hides his spare keys
