Longhorn

Well, I have been posting here a few years, and have never showed anyone my truck. I have finally some pictures of my Longhorn.

I have a few more pictures, but dont want to clog up the thread space, since I don't know yet how to make the pictures smaller.
It's the truck in my signature.

Re: Longhorn

Yep thats nice..first one I've seen proof of having a BB with a detroit locker and an automatic tranny..never heard of that...thanks for posting that and remembering our PM long way back. I didn't think that combination package was available in a 3/4 ton. Oops, hang on it's a 1 ton. Still that's very interesting. What a good set of factory options too.

He posted more pics here in this thread...but no interior yet.

Re: Longhorn

Here is a few more pictures. I will upload some more today. I also checked the engine codes and it is a matching date, and pretty sure, original engine, heads, everything. I bought it in Spokane Washington, and drove it back to Maine about 7 years ago. I have tons of documentation on the truck, including registrations, the original brochure with options circled by the buyer, and maintenence receipts throughout the years. The 8 track is now gone, but I have all the paperwork, so maybe I can find one on ebay someday.

I guess I need to open up my rear axle to see if I have that locker; I know you offered yours to me once, still undecided as to what I have...

Re: Longhorn

VERY nice longhorn there. I guessed it wasn't a native Yankee truck. (Going by lack of rust.)

Re: Longhorn

I got it through some interesting ways, my Dad went out to Coeur D' Alene back in 1996, to escape following a divorce. I was sailing out to sea, and was saving to buy a house. My Dad asked to borrow $400 for a house rent, so I gave him my account number to my bank. He ended up cleaning me out unbeknownst to me. I lost $16,000 and change during this. I came back, and he was driving this truck that he got off the original buyer. For $2000.
I even have the old newspaper clipping from 1997 with the ad. I ended up with the truck, and drove it back to Maine. Since I've had it, I hauled a lot of loads, and when I was out of work in 2003, I used (abused) it to haul wood to the pulp mill to make house payments. I have load slips, with this truck, as it is, with loads of up to 6300 pounds of pulp wood, for a gross weight of 11,400 pounds. This truck saved my bacon, and was the truck I drove when I was courting my wife. It hauled all the timber I used to build my house. This truck has almost been sold several times, but for whatever reason, I have kept it and at this point, dont think it will be going anywhere. Now, it is not my front line vehicle anymore, but if I can find a camper for it, it will take me and my new family across country, as it did for the previous owners so many years ago.

Re: Longhorn

Hmm, Cornville ME. I didn't know where that was and looked it up on mapquest. I've lived in Millinocket (Where I was born.) Bar Harbor, Portland Area and Hallowell. My parents owned a beach cabin in Surry back in the late 60's. I'm sure that property would be worth 1 million or more now. I have many fond memories of that Maine mid coast area.
