Frame questions

Ok, since im the new guy here, i have a few questions. Take it easy on me eh! Im sure the question has already been discussed in the past and will do a search after i post this. So, what frame will fit under a 67-72 LB 2wheel drive to make it a 4x4?I tried looking at the last frame post for frame measurements but the text was too small. Anybody done a swap?
cheers

Re: Frame questions

Welcome to the board from South Mississippi. With the right skills you can use a
73 and up frame under it, but it's not a bolt on and go deal.

Re: Frame questions

I have swapped a few later model frames under 55-59 trucks.
The later model 73- have very close to the same demensions.
The trick I have used to make it easier is to drill out the frame cab and core support brackets, after measuring (twice) their height and distance from the front axle centerline then mount them to the new frame. The width on the frames , I have found for 55-86 is close enough, the wheel bases with in an inch, made the difference up between the bed and cab.
Other wise you will have to deal with stuff that takes some time but isn't that hard;
Brake lines
fuel lines but I would try to use the saddle tanks from the later trucks, will work with some trimming of the cab (more room in cab)
Steering column linkage, no biggy, make sure it turns free and doesn't bind, between box and steering wheel.
not much wiring to deal with
Bumpers-
If automatic use a locktar linkage kit
Manual......don't know but I am sure stock stuff can work, watch out for lever ratios
It technically isn't hard but many small and a couple of large issues to deal with.
