It wont go straight!!
Heres my problem. My 68 started pullin to the right a while back. After spending many hours underneath the front end measuring and aligning the thing still pulled to the right so I switched the 2 front tires to the opposite side. Now it pulls to the left!! The whole front end was rebuilt a couple years ago and everything still looks good under there. Any ideas?

My dad had the same problem a few years ago - the tire guy said that the cords had shifted inside the tire. He swaped the tires front/back & problem solved.

Re: It wont go straight!!
It's called "radial pull".
A trip to Discount Tire or wherever and some cash will fix it.

Re: It wont go straight!!
How old are the tires? Most are under warranty for 40 or 50K miles.
Alignment won't cure this. He's already isolated the problem. |

Re: It wont go straight!!
The tires are only a year and a half old but pep boys only gave me a one year warranty with them. I don't think I will be going back there. Live and learn.

Manufacturer has to deal with the warranty if it's beyond the retail outlet. I've taken Good Years back after three years because they were within mileage warranty. They get pro-rated. |

Re: It wont go straight!!
definitly sounds like a bad tire. on a similar note, when you rotate your tires, you are not suppost to switch your radials from side to side, just front to rear, rear to front. Which brings me to my question. Sometime this week, my Autotech teacher told us about how since about the mid-90's, there's been radial tires which could be crossed over from one side to the other side. This sound right? Just ask my friend 68350 about our Autotech teacher, sometimes he can be quite.... a character.
and speaking of tires, I need to get some new tires for my ole 69, anybody have any ideas? I was thinking of some fat BFG Radial T/A's for a more rodder look, with slimmer tires in the front, or I was also thinking of putting some farm-truck-looking tires, you know the type; those old studdy rear tires, and smaller less grippy ones in the front. Which presents an obsticle, anybody know of such old-fashioned grippy tires? Do they even make them anymore? Anyways, that's all I'm going to hijack this thread for.
