Re: Did you have to cut?????

What headers did you use? I wouldn't cut any motor mounts, especially being a BB, lots of torque there.

Re: Did you have to cut?????

The BB stands have an extra bend to clear the original manifolds. Maybe the SB stands are too tall? I had Hooker comps on my old 396 and they cleared the BB stands by about 1/2" in that bent area.

Re: Did you have to cut?????

My bb mounts have a clearance curve right under where the mounts fit. Small block mounts don't....
i am not sure what company has them but there are tubular aftermarket mounts that are around 120 with mounts and they are suposed to clear just about anything.

Re: Did you have to cut?????

Yep, you need BBC stands. I tried it on sbc stands and it didn't clear either. I went through 3 sets of headers even with the right BBC stands before I found a set that didn't hit either the frame, oilpan or motor mounts. 3rd set was the charm.

Re: Did you have to cut?????

What they said, mine didn't work either had to get BB stands, the ones that you have off look like the ones you need, with the dip in them.

Re: Did you have to cut?????

When you install the correct stands the engine will be pushed back 1''. If you don't want to do that you will be drilling

Re: Did you have to cut?????

I just had to notch the big hole a bit for mine, then used big thick washers from balancer bolts, you can also make some out of thick flat iron.
