What hoods will fit a 72 chevy?

I am looking for another hood to customize slightly, and was wondering what all years and makes of hoods will fit a 72 chevy? I've heard 69 to 72 chevy, is this right? Also will any GMC hoods bolt on? When I'm at the wrecker, how can I tell if I have the right one? I think the front on a 72 hood is higher than the 67-68 style, but I'm not sure. Thanks!

Re: What hoods will fit a 72 chevy?

I think you've got it figured out...

'69-'72 Chevy will fit perfectly. They have a more 'erect' nose than '67-'68s which will not line up with your grill or fenders.

GMC- same deal. Hoods will bolt on but not line up.

'67 and '68 are more 'laid back'.

'69-'72

'67-'68 and GMC

Thanks! I've never looked at a side vs. side comparison, but seeing one like that there is a fairly huge difference! I'm sure I can find the right one now. Thanks!

Actually, the GMC hoods are the same as the chevy hoods.

Re: What hoods will fit a 72 chevy?

I'm pretty sure that there are 67-8 hoods and 69-72 hoods, and that there is no difference in Chevy and GMC, only in the year, but I could be wrong. I know the fenders are 67 all / 68 Chev and 68-72 GMC / 69-72 Chev. The difference between the 67-8 hood and the 69-72 hoods and the way they line up is the grille and trim around the grille. The 69-72 hoods stop sooner then the 67-8 hoods.
