Drop Spindles

Performanceonline.com. Has anyone ever bought some of their dropped spindles? They come with lifetime warranty, bolt on to stock 67-72 ball joints and uses stock 71-72 disk brakes. Made in the U.S. Price 225.00. Would anyone recommend them? thanks.

i bought engine mounts and a tranny crossmember from them.
they were fast and accurate, my drop spindles came from cpp.

yea ive got drop spindles from them. they were the cheapest (price wise) and wotked as said, bolted right up no problem. just had to get an alignment after words tho.

I just put on POL upper a arms with ece drop spindles, both were good quality.

Which ball joints do they bolt up to? '67-'70 are smaller shaft than '71-'72. Either ones will fit your control arms but be sure you know which ones to buy so you have them when you take the truck apart. The lowers need to be pressed in by a auto machine shop if you don't have access to a hyd. press.

Also. I don't see what year truck you have, but if you have a '67-'70 and the new spindles are for '71-'72 parts (which they probably are) your tie rod ends won't fit either. You will need to use 71-72 outers, a CPP adapter sleeve, and a '67-70 outer in the inner position. In '71 they reversed the direction of the threads when they went to a larger diameter for discs. Another option would be to change out the center link and complete tie rods to 71-72 parts which would be a good idea if they are worn.

Also if you are changing to discs from drums as part of your lowering don't forget that you will need a disc brake master cylinder (and booster if it's a power brake truck with a 71-72 firewall mount) as well as a proportioning valve. The front wheel brake hose tabs on the rear of the crossmember need to be cut off and attached to the front of the crossmember and a 71-72 front hard line kit will be needed as well.

This may be too much info but I don't want you to get your truck tore down and then find you need a bunch of parts that you can't get until Monday morning.

I bought mine from ECE. They were machined to accept 67-70 balljoints. I just went to the parts store and bought 73 rotors and calipers. I got my bake lines from Inline Tube. They have a setup specifically for 67-70 trucks with the disc brake conversion, so your hoses go on the back side of the crossmember. So, if POL spindles are machined to accept 67-60 balljopints, I'd take that price.

It all depends on how low you want to go.

Last two sets of Early Classic spindles I bought were 219 per pair. They advertise them for more, but when ordering, they gave a price break. I went with ECE for known quality.

Yes, they are the properly machined spindles to bolt directly onto the earlier tie rod ends and ball joints without changing them to later model ones.
