progress pic's on the 71
what a long weekend. Almost got everything done on the engine. I hope to finish the fire wall this week. X-mas - news years: paint the inside of the front clip and install, finish the rockers and floor boards.

Winter progress!
I might have missed it in your other post but what are your final plans for it? How's it going to be in the end and used for what? Looks to me that this one's going to be driven. |

Re: progress pic's on the 71
I plan on keeping this one and towing the boat to the lake. I got jacked up last year with the boys in the rear on my 69. I have a 4inch lift for it and will put 33's on it. Still looking for tilt steering and a tack dash!!! I'm also going to use a soft top until I find a better hard top.

Re: progress pic's on the 71
Looks like you may have just a wee bit of orange peal in the paint on the firewall!!hehehehe. Bet it wouldn't rust now!!! Isn't it great when these things start to come together but it's kind of like climbing a mountain---you keep killing yourself trying to get to the peak and then it's all downhill. Unfortunately my project blazer is still way up there "peak" wise!!

That is tinted spray on bed linner on the fire wall. It really holds up great and covers lots of the imperfections on the wall.

If not prepped right it won't stay air tight on the metal and then is basically useless. Moisture will then get underneath and do it's worst. I only give that word of caution because I have a truck coated with it that was not prepped correctly (apparently) because it peels off very easily. Not sure how to "fix" it but I'll need to in the near future. Probably have to take it off and start over... Very rugged when applied right though. |

I actually thought about doing the floor with it, from the tailgate to the rear seats. Still not sure.

Re: progress pic's on the 71
Thats nice! I like the way the texture looks there. May have to steal that idea. Did you apply the coating to bare metal, or to primered metal? Thanks, Jeff.

Re: progress pic's on the 71
I did use primer in a spray can just for a base coat. But the instruction only require it to be clean and free of oil. The complete kit is 90 bucks and comes with a spray gun, tint and base material. All you need to do is measure it, mix it and spray it.

Mines covered everywhere inside, even the roll bar. Gotta admit though, when we come back from wheeling it's pretty nice to just open the doors and hose it out. |
