Chevelle shorty headers?
Does anyone know the part # for the Chevelle shorty headers that will work for our trucks with a small block? I think it's the Dynomax # 86118?

Re: Chevelle shorty headers?
I have the 86118's on my truck. You will probably have to bend some new pipes to get them to fit your present exhaust. I'll be having a custom exhaust put on Saturday.

Re: Chevelle shorty headers?
Why are so many people using this header? Why not use an application specific header made for our trucks? Not flamin', just curious...

I wanted my entire exhaust tucked up in between the frame rails.

Re: Chevelle shorty headers?
wanted the exhaust tucked up. I am using heddman chevelle shortys they will not clear the stock motor mounts. I am using a after market set by North West Auto fab.
I also did not like the small 1 1/2" primarys and 2 1/2 collector avaible with the Dynomax. They are fine for a stock motor. The Heddmans have a 1 5/8" to 3" They allow my motor to breath a little better. They also have ball flanges which eliminates the possibility of ever having to change gaskets if they do come loose just tighten them up.

Re: Chevelle shorty headers?
They look like 6cyl towers to me. You might get lucky and they could clear.

Re: Chevelle shorty headers?
So what did you hve to do to get them to work? I like the idea of having the ball flange and am wanting to put on some headers real soon. I dont want to have to fabricate anything seeing as how I'm limited to tools, and space.

Re: Chevelle shorty headers?
Have you looked at the ones that Petronix sells, Doug's Headers makes a 3/4 legth header simular to the chevelle headers.

Re: Chevelle shorty headers?
I bought a set of motor mounts from North West Auto Fab.. They cleared the tubes that were hitting the old 8 cyl mounts. They also moved the motor back beteen where the 8 sit's and where the 8 would sit in the 6 position. Which could be a pain if your not doing a drive line rebuild. I am sure I could have grinded the stock mounts out to clear but I wanted everything to look a certian way on this truck. If it was a driver I think I would have had the grinder in there really fast and made them fit..
I would get the set if you motor is in the 6 cyl position and try them out. Buy the hedders local that way if they are too hard to get to fit you can take them back.
