another start and stall

okay been having trouble latey alot of it it seems lol. anyway i got an 1971 checy c-10 with 307 when ever i stop the truck stalls out i adjusted the idle so that it idles about 800-875 rpms sittin in the drive way it was idlein fine but the frist trip down the road it stalled out when i pushed the clutch in and started braking just sort of putt putt dead no vac leaks i fixed all them. i'm half ready to jerk the motor out and stick another one in ther just got to make it to pay day. lord help me lol thanks in advance

Hows your fuel filter? Have you done anything to the engine before it started doing this?

Just in case it has a vacuum leak you can easily say yea, or nay, by putting your hand over the top of the carb, while it is running. If it smothers and dies, versus continuing to run, then you can say no to the vacuum leak theory.

Does it have an HEI? I had a problem that arose after changing my vacuum advance. Short version: the wiring inside the distributor which fed a signal to the pickup module, would break when I let off of the gas.....which caused the "breaker" plate to move a little bit, and just enough for that connection to break. R&R'd the HEI with a rebuilt and no problemo.

got it figured out i had an small vac leak on back of the manfoild where the was an piece of 7/16 hose with an bolt in it. fixed that it still died got to figureing out that my 800 rpm idle was the cold idle so i warmerd it up adjusted the ilde again and well i ended up having to install an new return spring becuase mine wasn't returnin lol thanks for all the help
