e-brake cable? difference between transmissions?
Can anybody tell me if there is a difference in E-brake cable length/hardware between trucks that have TH-400 vs TH-350.
The reason I ask is because I am currently installing my cable and hardware, but beause I am using a 700R4/4L60 trans with a capice style tail mount and the autocross member in the stock TH-400 position, my cable set up is rubbing the mount on the transmission. According to inline tube, they have a different part number for the th-400 vs th-350, so I am assuming the cable length may differ, but what about the length of the fixed rod on the pass. side. Anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: e-brake cable? difference between transmissions?
On the stock TH 400 truck the cross member has two strap brackets attached to it for routing the e-brake cable. The TH 350 equipped truck e-brake cable has the long rod to support it. The cross member does not have the two brackets on the TH 350 truck.
There has to be a difference between the two cables but because of the different routing I am not sure which is longer. Since you will need to make a custom setup anyway, I would suggest getting the longer cable, cut it to the right length, and referrule it with a new end. It is pretty simple to place guides in the right locations to support the cable. With all of the 700R4's being installed on these trucks, there may be a chance of someone having done this before. Good luck! Jim |

Re: e-brake cable? difference between transmissions?
Interesting...Will now ask if anyone has a picture of a TH-400 setup or will start looking around for someone who has such a truck. My crossmember is a th-350 version (or at least I think it is)
My set up is not the norm...I am using a caprice tailshaft which allows the mount to be moved back. It can also be mounted like a TH-350, but requires new holes to be drilled in the frame, the drawback to this set up is, having to loosen/move the crossmember to drop the transmission pan.
