Frame Differences
Can someone please tell me the differences in the frame from a 4 wheel drive and a 2 wheel drive. Can the 4 wheek drive frame be converted to a 2 wheel frame by changing the front crosss member and control arm set up? Thanks.

Re: Frame Differences
The framerails are basically the same, everything else is different. Yes one can be converted over if you have all the right parts.

Re: Frame Differences
Far easier to just buy a good 2wd frame, and drop your 4x4's body onto it though.
2wd frames are pretty common too, so you shouldn't have any problems finding one. That 4x4 swb frame would likely pay for the 2wd frame, plus extra cash on the side!

Re: Frame Differences
Thanks guys for the info. My problem is that I have a 2wd frame that I believe is twisted and I am picking up a 4wd truck for the box and cab. I wanted to use the frame from the 4wd for the 2wd. 2 wd frames are not commom here in Northwestern Ontario. Thnaks again

Hey Free88
I have a buddy here who has lots of good frames. How far north are you? We live in Fergus, just North of Guelph. Doug |

Re: Frame Differences
Too bad you arn't over here -- I'd trade you frames swb 2w4 for your swb 4wd frame

Re: Frame Differences
Me and my fiance were thinking of doing the opposite, converting a 2wd frame to 4x4. We have a donor 4x4 truck complete with everything. But we figured it would be easier to put the 2wd body onto the 4wd frame.
