Post 2 pc Drive Shaft ?

Ok, this past weekend I changed the carrier bearing on my truck because when I had it on the hoist I noticed it had snapped, my truck has the round type of carrier bearing fyi...
Well, my G/F's dad was helping me and the rear yolk on the front piece is bolted to it, is this normal? her dad think's it's not because when the rear end moves up/down, it will pull on the bearing now and will eventually snap it again, know I've owned this truck 4 yrs and this is the first time it's done this. Did I make myself as clear as mud?? if not ask me questions, I will answer them...
But I was just wondering if mine was a coppled piece or if that was stock..

Thanks

Ean

Did it break along the top where the tapped piece is spotwelded to the rest of it? That's where I had two break, but I figured it was because they were cheap Autozone parts and I'm lowered 4-3/4" in the rear, but anyway, I welded a bead around the whole thing about 8,000 mi. ago and it's not coming apart yet-- I keep checking.

well, the one I had broke right where the T shaped piece on the top attaches to the donut shaped piece on top, so it sounds about like the same place, but unfortunately I have no pics

Usually there is a short shaft to the carrier bearing and a slip joint goes through the bearing. on the rear side of it there is the female half of the slip joint and a u-joint. I've never seen one bolted on. what you are describing doesn't sound right. I'll have to look at mine before I'll say that my description is right though. I can't remember now. I'll see about getting some pics.
