wheel bearings squeal???

I am new to 4x4's so bear with me.....my truck start squealing yesterday afternoon....very slightly, and I could only hear it with the window down, and while slowing down.....sounds like it coming from the front end (to me it almost sounds like the squeal on disc brakes when the warning spring starts to ride on the disc....but I have drums), this morning, its gotten so audible that I can hear it while driving at 50mph down the road.....am I looking at wheel bearing replacement here?
If so, can I get a step by step breakdown? Please tell me the parts for the dana 44hd are an over the counter part! (its the truck in the sig. if you need more specifics)
Thanks

Re: wheel bearings squeal???

Maybe a brake spring came loose in drum. Never heard a bearing make that kind of noise.

Re: wheel bearings squeal???

It's not that hard to pull the wheel hubs and check the bearings and then you can repack them if they're good. If they are bad you'll end up damaging the spindles or worse and you don't want that. You can check the brake springs at the same time as Jhow said
