Big block questions

Ok, need some info. Will a big block bolt up to a small block tranny/transfer case? Or is there a big block tranny?

Re: Big block questions

you are in luck, as far as the bolt pattern goes, they both canbolt up to the same tranny.

The 230/250/292 straight 6's and 4.3L V-6's are the same, too. Don't you just love Chevy's?

Re: Big block questions

big blocks didnt come in 4x4s so its not quite as simple as popping one in where there never was one. but if you do a search there are lots of threads to help you with the process.

Re: Big block questions

Big block will bolt up to a small block tranny, you will need motor mounts.

Re: Big block questions

Not that it helps in this instance, but the 2.5 four cylinder has the same bellhousing as the inlines, small blocks and big blocks too.

I've got a 72 GMC 4x4 with a 396 BB, 700R4 tranny, and a 208 transfer case for running gear. If I can be of any help, let me know.
