Red face Pop's72 '71 2wd Blazer (finally some pics)

While growing up my dad had a 72 short step 2wd C10 (thus the name Pop’s72) that I have fond memories of. He sold the 72 when I moved into an apartment and couldn’t take it with me (mom wanted the non-runner gone). Two years ago my wife and I bought a house and I started getting the itch for the old C10. I found out that my Dad’s old truck was stolen, so getting it back wasn’t an option.

I came across this forum in December 04, joined, and spent hours going through old posts. I ventured to the Blazer/Jimmy section and the C10 itch evolved to a K5 itch. I started looking for a factory 2wd with factory AC. I looked at Ebay, Craigs List, and Car Collector daily. Long story short I purchased this Blazer off Ebay in August 05.

So here it is my factory 2wd, factory AC, 350/350 baby.

Re: Pop's72 '71 2wd Blazer (finally some pics)

Thanks for the nice comments guys!

I'm a total newbie when it comes to working on trucks, thus I needed to buy something that I could drive and learn on when something breaks.

62panel The paint is a BMW color not sure of the name or year. I wanted either a silver or blue Blazer, I guess I got somewhere in between.

Luv The computer is a Holley MPI Fuel Commander 950. You can hook it up to your laptop and make adjustments to the fuel injection. I haven't really messed with it as the Blazer runs pretty smooth and I don't want to mess it up. And yes, I was driving it today

SOON2BLAZE This blazer was on eBay three seperate times. The first two times (it didn't meet reserve) I wasn't ready to make any bids, then a couple of months later it was back and I made my move.

vtblazer Teaser pics? I thought I did a good job... After all I posted more then one picture Thanks for the kind words.

bouncy No bags, it has DJM top and bottom tubular control arms in the front. I'm guessing a 4" front, 6" back drop, but not totally sure. The back is a little too bouncy (pun intended) and I may go bagged back there in the future. Especially if I decide to do a hide-a-hitch.

hotrodhomi I still look at Blazer ads, even though I'm not going to get another one. It's the only thing I feel I'm decent at when it comes to Blazers. If you want you can PM me with an idea of what your looking for and about how much you want to spend. I bought this Blazer pretty close to Sacramento and would like to see another Nor Cal guy get one.

Let me know what other stats you guys what to know. I will try to get more pictures posted soon (I need to take them though). Thanks again guys.

Great looking Blazer - congrats on your purchase. You can't beat buying one that is ready to drive - my 70 K5 hasn't moved since pushing it off the trailer in February of 2004 - yikes has it been two years already - I should be ashamed!

I hear you on that one Yukon. I got my 70 2wd in May of 05 and the only time it's moved since then was to put it under a roof when Hurricane Rita was on it's way.

Sweet ride you got there. What size engine does it have? Do you like the holley fuel injection? Don't feel bad I bought mine already done, so now I am just changing the things I don't like. It was a ebay baby too.

Great ride, congrats... I made an offer on that blazer after the 2nd time it went on ebay. Guy was not too open to making a deal, so I was forced to keep my money. If you don't mind the question, what did you pay for her?

The engine is a 350 and it runs pretty smooth with decent power. When I start it up I turn the key to the "on" position, let the fuel pump kick in for a second, and then start it up. It fires up pretty easy... I would like to have more power, but I say that about all my cars. I need to do some major wire clean up in the engine bay... here are some pics along with a closeup of the fuel injection.

I was not sure if I wanted to post an answer to this question, but now I figure it might help some people out. So here is my (long) eBay story...

The first time this Blazer was up on eBay (mid December 2004) the Buy It Now price was $17,200 and the bidding went to about $13-14,000 Reserve Not Met. I did not bid on it this time.

The second time on eBay (end of January 2005, a bad time of the year to be selling IMO) there was a Buy It Now price of $16,800 and the bidding went to $14,100 Reserve Not Met. I placed a bid early on in the auction, but I knew that it wouldn't be anything near the top bid. In the auction description the seller said he wouldn't lower the Buy It Now price and instead he would drive it that summer.

The final time on eBay (end of July 2005) there was no Buy It Now price and I was in a better position to make a serious bid. I'm one of those people that waits to the last minute to bid on something and that was my plan for the Blazer. I checked the auction a couple of times a day while I waited to make my move. The night before the final 24 hours of bidding the auction was up to about $13,700 (Reserve Not Met and remember no Buy It Now). The next morning I went to work and checked the auction. To my surprise there was now a Buy It Now Price of $14,900. I figured the bidding would probably go over this amount, so I took the Buy It Now.

When I spoke to the seller I asked why he had suddenly put a Buy It Now price. He replied that he was tired of people calling that didn't know Blazers and people that were trying to pull one over on him. For example he would get people asking "Is it a convertible?" and telling him it wasn’t a factory 2wd when they had never seen it or pictures that would say otherwise. In the end he just wanted to make sure it would sell because he didn't want the aggravation anymore.
